Head of Engineering
Everlab is pioneering the next era of healthcare proactive, personalised, and, most importantly, accessible to all.
We usually respond within a week
Everlab is building the platform to look after people’s health for their entire lives. Not just an app, but the infrastructure to connect every available healthcare service, give people comprehensive data on their health, and deliver truly personalised care.
Since our $15M Seed raise in June 2025, we’ve grown revenue 23x. The team is still lean, the problems are genuinely hard, and we’re about to scale, locally and globally. This is the moment to join.
We’re hiring our first Head of Engineering to help us get there.
The Role
This is a newly created position, you’ll be the first Engineering leader at Everlab, working directly with the Founder to shape how we build, grow, and operate our engineering function.
You’ll take ownership of a team of 12 engineers across five squads (Platform, Supply, Clinical Operations, Patient App, and Core Services) with clear plans to scale to 30+ as we continue to grow.
You won’t be writing code every day, but you’ll be close enough to the technical work to contribute to architecture discussions, guiding solution design, and making the trade-offs that matter.
We’ll invest in a thorough onboarding and work closely with you in the early months. By 6–9 months, the goal is for you to be driving the engineering roadmap and team operations.
Our five squads
Platform: DevOps, performance, and infrastructure. The foundation everything else runs on.
Supply: Integrations with clinical services, diagnostics, bookings, and external APIs. HL7/FHIR, distributed systems, reliability at the edges.
Clinical Operations: Backend workflows for doctors and ops teams. Complex domain modelling, FSM-driven state management, deep collaboration with clinicians.
Patient App: Consumer-facing iOS, Android, and web. Real-time health data, pixel-perfect UI, making complex clinical information feel simple.
Core Services: Payments, notifications, events, and the shared infrastructure other squads build on.
What You Will Do
Lead and grow the engineering team
Own people management across all engineering squads: performance, culture, hiring, and team structure.
Mentor and develop future Engineering Managers from within the team, building leadership capability as we scale.
Drive headcount planning and hiring to take the team from 12 to 30+ engineers, without losing the culture that makes us good.
Stay close to the technical work
Participate meaningfully in architecture and solution design discussions across squads.
Help engineers navigate complex technical trade-offs, not by prescribing answers, but by coaching better thinking.
Maintain enough technical depth to hold a Principal Engineer accountable and earn the trust of the people building.
Own delivery and accountability
Be directly accountable for the projects your teams are driving, including the Platform DevOps team.
Set and communicate clear engineering standards, processes, and expectations as we scale.
Partner with Product and the Founder to translate business priorities into a coherent engineering roadmap.
Build what scale requires
Design the team structures, processes, and systems that let us grow without slowing down.
Apply what you’ve learned from previous scale-up journeys: what to build now, what to wait on, and where to invest.
Help us expand infrastructure and platform capabilities to support new cities and markets efficiently.
What We’re Looking For
Scale-up experience: You’ve been through a genuine scale-up journey, either in this exact role, or as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead who lived through it. You understand what scaling actually looks like: the trade-offs, the growing pains, and what good looks like on the other side. This is a critical requirement.
Technical credibility: You’re not writing code day-to-day, but you’re still close enough to architecture and system design to hold your own in any technical discussion. You can coach engineers through solution design, challenge assumptions, and make informed trade-offs. Think: somewhere between a Principal Engineer and a seasoned Engineering Manager.
People leadership: You have a strong track record of managing and developing engineering teams. You care about the people, not just the output. You know how to give feedback, build trust, and create the conditions for engineers to do their best work.
Startup experience: You’ve worked in early-stage or high-growth environments before. You know how to move fast with limited resources, and you’re comfortable with ambiguity. You don’t need perfect information to make good decisions.
Ownership mindset: You operate with a high degree of autonomy. You don’t wait to be told what to do. You identify the problems, build the plan, and drive the outcome.
Culture fit: You communicate clearly and directly. You care more about team success than personal credit. You disagree when it matters and commit once decisions are made. You genuinely care about building something meaningful.
Why it's great to work at Everlabs:
Do work that matters: We’re building the future of preventive health. Use your skills to prevent disease, improve access to personalised care, and reduce pressure on the health system.
Work directly with the Founder: As the first Engineering leader, you’ll have real influence on how Everlab builds and operates, not just executing someone else’s vision.
High-growth environment: 23x revenue growth since our Seed round. We’ve found strong PMF early, and people who thrive on pace and opportunity will love this stage.
Work-life flexibility: Hybrid working with 2–3 days in the office, plus flexibility to manage life beyond the 9 to 5 when it matters.
Experience Everlab as a customer: Full access to the Everlab health program, provided after successfully passing probation.
Share in our success: Employee Share Option Plan included as part of your total remuneration. We grow together.
People you’ll love working with: A welcoming, mission-driven team of smart, thoughtful people doing meaningful work.

About Everlab
Everlab is on a mission to build the future of preventive health — empowering people to take control of their wellbeing before problems arise.
Everlab is an early stage HealthTech startup that recently announced a $15m Seed stage round, building tech-enabled healthcare that improves and extends quality of life using cutting-edge medical research and technology. Our products design and coach our members through personalised risk-management and health-optimisation protocols over months and years to measurably improve lives.
Our founding team is experienced in the Medical industry including the preventative health specialist who founded Australia’s first full-body MRI clinic, to serial entrepreneurs that have scaled unicorns and have $500m+ in exits.
Our mission is to solve high-impact problems in healthcare that have never been tackled before, which isn’t easy. We look for people that are excited by this mission and the challenges they bring as our team is driven to solve these problems together.
Our team is hybrid with 2-3 days a week in office, within the CBD of the job's posted location.
